Library Leadership Institute : 5 - 8 November 2008

Thinking Outside the Borders: Library Leadership in a World Community is a pilot project being held in South Africa by the Department of Library Services, University of Pretoria in partnership with Swets and the Mortenson Center for International Library Programs.

BACKGROUND: The original project was designed jointly by the Mortenson Center for International Library Programs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA and the Illinois State Library, and funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The project is designed to encourage librarians to think globally and act locally, with the aim of promoting greater understanding and appreciation of the world community in which librarians work. The Institute will focus on leadership issues that affect librarians regardless of which country they live in.
